Between 170,000 and 500,000 children live in 8,000 orphanages in Indonesia. 

The Indonesian Orphanages Research Centre is a non-profit repository of academic resources about these institutions.

​It aims to encourage further research and support efforts to reduce reliance on children's institutions.
