About
The Indonesian Orphanages Research Centre was established in 2016 and is an independent, not-for-profit website that presents the scholarly research about panti asuhan. It seeks to encourage more research into panti asuhan, thereby supporting efforts to reduce reliance on these institutions in line with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, to which Indonesia is a signatory.

The founder is Dr Brian Babington, who has extensively researched Indonesia’s orphanages. Based in Canberra, Australia, he leads a national not-for-profit organisation that works to improve child and family wellbeing and also works internationally in support of children's rights. Read more about Dr Babington here.
