At least 100,000 children live in Indonesia's orphanages.

Established in 2016, the Indonesian Orphanages Research Centre aims to encourage and support policy-making and programs to reduce reliance on orphanages.

It provides a comprehensive database of research about
Indonesia's orphanages and proposes areas for future inquiry here.

Recent research (published after 2020) is also highlighted
here.
